Gadwal saree is a handwoven saree originating from Gadwal region of Telangana. It was registered as one of the geographical indication from Telangana by Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999. They are most notable for the zari on the sarees. The body of the saree is made of cotton threads whereas the border and pallu are made of silk threads. This type of saree is known as SICO sarees. The Brahmotsavas of Tirupati begin with the deity's idol being adorned with Gadwal Saree. Gadwal Cotton also popularly known as Kalyani Cotton is a must have saree in every women's wardrobe!
